dundonald 10.5K

i was invited to run at the dundonald 10.5K road race (by my mate hammy who was looking for a lift home afterwards) and felt this was a good opportunity to show this small east/south ayrshire village just what glasgow based westerlands ccc was all about. with almost 100 runners from around the world, okay 2 french guys on holiday, i lined up at the start with my regulation westerlands ccc grey t-shirt and shorts ensemble and a pair of road racing pumps on. I started on the second line of runners at the start, as i had seen many road runners do in the past, the gun or possibly a whistle went off/was blown and we were on our way. the pace was brisk for the first couple of hundred yards/metres and i settled into a comfortable top 15 placing, as the crowd expected. I pegged a few places back with my 'hill-climbing power' over the upwardly undulating first 5.25K. After this I kinda lost interest, as it was on the roads and I finished in 10th spot just over the magical 40 minute mark, as the crowd expected. No pictures as I opted not to take a camera... nobody else was taking theirs but any previous photograph with me in a grey t-shirt smiling at the camera would do.
