Kinnoull Hill Race 2007
Westies took the prize on Wednesday for winning the most prizes - generous Woollies vouchers all round to Val H - 1st vet(2nd lady), Catriona M - 3rd senior lady and David R - 2nd vet. Another good turnout of travelling Westies ventured to the wooded trails around Kinnoull Hill for this Bog-and-Burn counter. Almost all of the up is in the first mile, then a fast running wee roller coaster takes you back down, twisting and turning under the trees, never knowing where you are until all of sudden you're spat out at the finish. I survived the hill better this year, saving something to fend off a couple of road runners with the help of Des Crowe who got me at halfway and dragged me on. A few folk went astray in the woods including Don Naylor (HBT), forfeiting his lead to clubmate Ray Ward. Val was very closely pipped by Sarah Blake (Penicuik). Plenty of hearty sandwiches back at the hall and we'd certainly had our tea and a fine blast of a race, all for a bargain £2.
