Kirki12.5
An odd distance but one of the nicest road races I have done in a long time. Well done Kirki. Olympic and well done Chris, Bill, and Andy too. The first time I was running back to back weekend races meant taking it easy and not expecting too much. I felt a little tired but a grey cool day and a good crowd proved motivation enough for this long undulating course which never lets you settle. I was pleased to get pb splits at 5k and 10k, so can't complain, and had enough energy to flick Chris a Westies sign as I saw him raising his camera at the end. I know Chris ran well, again, and though Bill wasn't pleased to be just over 52 minutes it was a good run on a hard course. Sorry I didn't see Andy finish as I had to dash back to the inlaws, but it was good to see 4 westies at a race we really should support. My time may not impress the speed demons amongst you but was pleasing for the second race of the weekend and hopefully bodes well for the marathon training. But once more I ask: where have all the wimmin gone?

Good stuff Jason. 2 races in a weekend is pretty impressive. Another 53,875 and you'll catch up with Chris! The 12.5k was definitely one of the more challenging races I've entered with lots of tiring uphill stretches to keep the lungs working overtime. I wasn't too unhappy with my 52 minutes with a 6:42 pace on a hilly course, just wished I'd managed to shave a few seconds off to get under the 52 mark. Next time...

Well done to Jason with his crazy 2-race weekend. Madness! Well done to Bill with hitting more or less spot on the predicted 52 minutes.Well done to Andy for keeping his 100% run going of Scottish 12.5km road races.Full results here
I kept my new strategy going of starting off super slowly. Pootled along in 7th or 8th place for the first km, before moving up to 4th. Should have been more patient and sat on the shoulders of Iain Stewart and Alistair Allan, but instead tried to break them down in the first half. This had the very opposite of the intended effect, and just washed me out for the second half. Iain and Alastair broke away on a couple of steep hills leaving me floundering and aware of being closed down. With 2km to go Andy McLinden caught me and tried to go past, but I locked onto his pace. For the next 1.5km we ran elbow to elbow, while I gathered my strength to drop Andy in the final 500m - starting my sprint finish far too early!
