Jack Crawford 10K 2007, Bishopbriggs
Well, the lucky bag wasn't so overflowing this week; a Tunnocks wafer, a banana and a bottle of water stuffed into an Asda bag....that's more like it.
This is a hard wee race, mostly along the Forth & Clyde canal. The weather was appalling with strong winds and rain, and it's more like a trail race than a road race. Average times were considerably slower than at the Nigel Barge last week as a result. 10 Westies braved the elements, but where were the Westies Women? As usual, Chris was first Westies home, followed by Dave, Bill, Hamilton, Gibbie ( a welcome return), Jason ( back into league conquering mode), Ian, Davy B, Robert and Drew. A welcome return to racing for Couch as well....but you need to get back into a Westies vest soon! Good support also from Alan Anderson and Charlie, especially in the miserable weather!
Now....which colour vest would be most suitable for these conditions, black or gold?????????

Sorry folks, only half the pics turned out, mainly due to the overcast grey wet conditions, and the camera batteries chucking it didn't help either. At least with our traditional gold colour I could spot our troops from a distance. I thought Couch was wearing his Westies vest, no? (Getting him to pay his subs might be another matter....:-)

Twas was a proud day as once more I donned the famous golden garb. Check the post soon - your coffers will be filled. Given that I am now only half the size as before I expect a 50% discount.
Hmmm noticed that those westies in front of me are getting slower with father time - watch your back guys - here comes the couch!

Cold, windy, wet, windy, horrible, windy day for my 1st race since Nov. with other Westies. Didn't enjoy it (you mightn't have guessed) but felt strong and slow. Went hard through the mud and narrow bits in the first half in 21min, then died as I expected. Ouch! I'll upload a pic of what I was remebering in the cold, wet WIND.

That was just after your photo coming down off the bridge and back to the canal. I'll show you the technique tonight on the hills. I have always said I was better downhill, finally photographic evidence of why!
