El-Brim-ick Hill Race

A new race for me and a shock to my cold infested system.

The race comprises 2 wee hills with the route returning over the first hill, ie. 3 climbs, and fast but sometimes technical running over narrow path, woods, fields, tarmac,stiles....

From the word "Go" the pace is furious, fightening for position before the track narrows but with Dan Whitehead taking and keeping the lead.

The next 3 places were a close run thing between Des Crowe(Shet), Jason Williamson(Cosmic) and myself with Des finally creating a gap going up the last climb and Jason also drawing away from me and my bursting lungs.

The 3 very quick successive climbs and fast descents make this a very interesting but painfull race and require full on concentration.

Meanwhile near the back,eh the very back actually, Brenda was struggling to cope with her 2nd race in week, and was obviously suffering a great deal from shopping withdrawl symptoms.

However the head was still up when she came trotting over the horizon, to be escorted to the line by Duncan, and delighted to complete the course.

Master Duncan got stuck into his first race of the year with a fine performance (up & down the 1st hill) in the junior race finishing 2nd 8 year old after a big splat in some fine Aberdeen-shire mud and a bashed pride, but doing well coming 7th (13.42) in a field of 12 much older juniors.
