kilpatricks moonlight run

It would have been a fantastic moonlight run, if only we could have seen the moon! As it was, it was still a great run out to Duncolm and back. It was pretty mild once we got a head of steam going up the steep drag to the reservoirs, with fantastic views of the Glasgow lights down below. Up top the moon was nowhere to be seen, but we managed to do without the dreaded head torches until the end of the land rover track. Torches were donned to enable us to find the narrow trod that leads to Duncolm and we made the dark and misty top in 50 min before regrouping to reverse the route. We managed to miss the land rover track and wandered around in boggy mush for 5 min beside the reservoir before righting ourselves. A pleasant run back downhill rounded off a fine night out. 8 of us then headed back for a great curry at the Wee Curry Shop in Ashton Lane.

Indeed it was good fun !

To me, the night runs over the winter are a highlight of the year. Was kinda glad of the headtorch and warm wear though (especially during the rain on the way back via the bog).

Roll on the next full moon ........................
