Kilmarnock X Country

Not too many westies went for the Tinto/Kilmarnock combo last weekend. In fact only Drew and myself ran in the mens senior race. The legs felt surprisingly good after the exertions of Tinto - this was one of those rare occasions when i was getting a performance kick from the race the day before. However i decided to take it easy at the start to see how things panned out. Managed to work my way through the field up to 27th position by the end of the 3 laps. Many Thanks to Alan Anderson (who was there to watch his wife Gilian run in the ladies race.) For giving me advice on picking a good line on the big steep muddy hill . This was one of the few occasions when I enjoyed a X country race. Results are as follows: Steven Wylie of Girvan AC won in a time of 26.56 first vet was Colin Brash also of Girvan AC 29.08 - 6th position. First Super-vet was Ian Berryman of Irvine AC 31.26 - 15th position. I came in 27th in 34.50 and Drew who was complaining he couldn't get his legs going came in 46th in 46.53

Well done lads, a tough two race weekend for you both, worthy points methinks. Rest your legs now.

Yeah, well done you two. My wee sore legs enjoyed one of my favourite long runs up to New Lanark, where the Falls of Clyde were in spate and the autumn colours excellent, and met Westie Gary Thompsett out walking his new wean. Photos hereHamstrings still tender and quads pretty sore, but will be in fine shape for getting tore into those HBT boys on Sunday.
