Scottish Islands Peak Race
1992
Participating Westies and co. were Mark, Helene, Matt, Dave S and Dave P. Brian B never made it to the start after spraining his ankle marshalling at Ben Lomond. Weather on the crossing from Oban to Mull was rather rough. Dave P turned as grey as the sea and wasn't allowed by his Captain to do the Mull run. Weather at sea was thereafter typically calm, very restful for runners. Marks boat was beaten for third place by 15 secs on the row over to the finish at Troon. Matt and Dave Scott's crew were disillusioned by the lack of wind so refused to row over from Arran. Possibly broke the record for the longest crossing from Lamlash to Troon (13 hours).
