Mourne Mountain Marathon
Recent Westie recruit Scott McKendrick headed to Northern Irelend to compete in the C class of the prestigious Mourne Mountain Marathon, paired with Westie sympathiser Tommy Begley. After a 2/3 month spell studying training schedules, McKendrick dusted down his fell shoes and boarded the P&O to Larne with high hopes of completing the event. With
his right calf heavily strapped and head smeared with suntan lotion McKendrick led the team to an amazing first at the overnight campsite with some creative route choices and old fashioned gritty hill running, fighting off cramp with a combination of salt tablets and salted peanuts for the last hour of the 5 hour 3 minute day 1. With tired legs a new
balance trainer held together with silver gaffa tape and a slender 10 minute lead the boys would have to dig deep to stay ahead on day 2. Inspired by the possibility of a paragraph on the Westie website McKendrick inspired the team to finish first on day 2 and first overall, clocking an incredible 2 hours and 40 minutes and 20 seconds. Unfortunately the gaffa tape lasted only 25 minutes and the day was spend with a flapping right sole.
Now seeking NB hill shoe or similar right shoe in a 9.5 or european 44 for the forthcoming xc season.

Sounds like a continuation of the fine tradition of Westies pot-hunting! Get yourself bumped up a couple of classes for the next one.
I've a spare Walsh that may fit the bill. Might not fit your foot, though, as it's a size 8. Still, the dog (now dead, as it happens) that ate the shoe's partner also chewed the toe out of this one. Still too good to throw away, but the absence of toe-box means that you might squeeze into it. Let me know.
Congrats, by the way.

Well done, but what wimps. Christine ran at Comrie in two left shoes, I am sure you boys can do the same.

Did you carry your partner ALL the way round ? Surely this is a team event and the painful burdens were equally shared.
Now that you are jogging again surely the A class in the OMM (Karrimor) is an equally challenging feat.
Two left shoes would only be beneficial when contouring in a clockwise direction.
Cheers mate, your elated Westies wanabe.

along with tent, poles and pegs he was carried for 4 hours day one and 1.5 on day 2.for £10 you could post your ayrshire comments wearing a westies vest...like i do.womens feet are more suitable for wearing 2 left shoes and the male foot, 2 right shoes. simply reverse the insoles with the rubber side up.let us celebrate the power of the internet.
