The Ladies National XC

1992

Falkirk, Callendar Park. Well who would have believed? We got here in time, our manager the inimitable Mr Peter had actually collected the numbers, so no problems there. Even had enough safety pins. The team was slightly depleted from the original entry and then we nearly lost Muffy, but we got to the start line. We ran and we finished all 5 of us. Helen MacP, the two Scotts, Maureen and Elspeth, Pat and Muffy (apologies came from Barbara and Pauline) and in very creditable times. The weather was terrific, sunny, a very little wind. The course was good, varied and not too muddy considering the horrendous wind and rain the day before. How sorry we felt for the men ho ho! After the race immediate comments reckoned that it was a good course and maybe we'd do it again, at least we can't be slagged about it for a while.
