Well I will say that this was different from your average road race, as a relay and so just that bit less pressured and I think sociable. There was a rag tag group of Westies (usual suspects), meeting in the port, then sitting on the ferry watching the mega queue wondering if everyone would get on, and seeing Scott (good to meet you) at the back of the line! Anyway everyone did get on, but not quite enough for 3 teams. Arran was hot and sunny, and I dont think the mainland was, so you should have been there.
Of course all the legs are different, but there prob isn't an easy one. I say this because I was said to be on the easy one, South 2, but an (very) undulating 9 miles with few stretches to really get into a groove didn't feel easy. Still I managed 8 min. miles, which was my aim.
A good crack with the other runners, funny (?) mix up with the results, and a very sociable few hours on the return journey. Thanks to everyone there, you hirsuit becrop-topped bunch of big wristed runners.

As usual, a great day out and a reasonable performance by all 2 and 2/3 Westies teams. Despite the heat, I enjoyed my stage from Whiting Bay to Brodick and was chuffed to keep ahead of the first lady, until I checked my time for the same stage in 2000; it was 7 minutes faster!!
Highlights of the day were as follows: Grimorr fully kitted out in cotton Westies vest (DM Hoey special), reebok banana slippers, regulation black shorts and custard yellow tea-cosy (total cost £30); Irvine almost sneaking off with the first team prize, denying B*********** who had won most of the stages; Marc McColl missing the boat.....again; JD impersonating a certain member of a medium-to-large running club based in the south side of Glasgow which starts with B and ends in ellahouston; Calmac macaroni cheese on the way home; Jim Young handing out the prizes and his wife making the sandwiches and tea for the 25th year running!
Ah bliss; all race days should be like this!

Aye it was indeed a great day out! Most of the prizes won by Bella - happy days. One of our members did a great impression of a Westies runner by jogging really slowly - ahahahahahahaha.

Great to see a Bella-anybody with a sense of humour, it's only taken two years to develop one - heck, that's even slower than a Westies runner!
