Glamaig Hill Race
15th July, I was on Skye for my "local" hill race, Glamaig. It was lovely weather for spectators watching from outside the Sligachan Hotel, and midge-free too.
I found it especially hot on the first third of the steep ascent, then a bit better due to a breeze. I was slower than last year, but I'm not sure where I lost the time. Perhaps I took a slow route - certainly I took minute or two to swim out of a deep bog I fell into about 300m from the finish. Perhaps it was due to there being no other Westies for inspiration, since everyone was at Moffat. After I came down off the hill I didn't see any one at all whilst going across the rough bog. However I wasn't last by a long way, as there are some competitors listed as taking 4 hours.
