Hawkshead 10k

Well while you were all running round Chatelherault last week I was in the Lakes, having a great time, drinking proper beer, runnning, walking cycling and watching loads of footy. Of special notes was a 5 hour trot/ walk around the Langdale race route on a very hot morning, and it certainly looks like great route worth trying to enter next year perhaps!

Anyway last Wed, I ran in the Hawkshead 10k as there was no footy on. Starting from the aforementioned village it circles Esthwaite anti clockwise in a vry pretty undulating course. It was very friendly with 150 runners, but not as chatty as the hill lot I have got used to. Having mostly been running long and slow in the fells lately I was thinking 8 min miles would be good. Running without anyone I know was an odd experience, how far ahead were cat and blair? Luckily the were good mile markers so I had some track of my pace but it was odd. However despite boiling heat I was happy to see I very pleased to see I was just over 7 min miles and with friends cheering for WESTEEZE! at half way I picked up the old knees and was dead chuffed to get a pb of 45:44. then there was a free barbie which I didnt go to as we were meeting others in the pub back in Elterwater where we were staying. A great little race if you are ever down that way. Road running is easy!
