Traprain Law 10.6.06

Another fine day out at East Linton as part of their Gala Day.Very well

organised & friendly folk.

Jane & I were the sum total of the Westies representation-I wonder why?

Well,as usual, what have we got for excuses for the poor time?

(Not Jane,as not only did Jane pick up the F.V. Prize, but hardly

mentioned that she cycled 25 miles to get to the race, & refused a

lift home. What a woman?)

As with the footballers, there's always the heat. The heat, heat, heat.

That's it-no more excuses. In fact we were in the shade on the way back,so that's only half an excuse there.Doing well so far,eh?

Let's just cut to the results.

1) Keith Hood 40.16

2) Ian Rowland 43.57

6) Martin Hulme 45.22 1st V50

11) Eilidh Wardlaw 49.12 1st F

20) Giles Contier 52.26 1stSV60

21)Jane Robertson 52.35 1stFV

29) 56.44 1st SV70

All life is evident at a Gala Day and naturally you find yourself

chatting to Elvis (last year) & to a Pixie Lady this year to get the key for the shower room. Certainly it would be rude not to make use of the facilities when they advertise them-I know you agree.

So you go to the Marquee to see Jimmy, and he goes to see

Jimmy Two Shoes, who in turn sees Jimmy Three Hats, and then

you see the Pixie Lady.Phew.

You have just about finished your ablutions-ablute with the best of

them-and a knock on the door leaves you in absolutely no doubt:

"That's your time now please-we're locking up now!"

Marvellous,just marvellous.You could'nt make this stuff up.

Thanks again to the organisers-it's a great little race.
